Serves in a consultative capacity on divisional (Ditch Witch, Hammerhead/Subsite and Siteworks) product safety and product qualification activities to ensure compliance with domestic and international product safety and regulatory requirements for the division’s product designs.  Has approval to ship (sign-off) responsibility on divisional products that they comply with all necessary standards for the markets they are being sold into.  Assists in the development of TTC product safety policies and procedures.  Represents division on pertinent domestic and international technical societies and standards organizations committees.  Serves in a consultative capacity to the Legal Department regarding worldwide response to product injury incidents related to divisional products and provides litigation assistance such as consultations, depositions, and court testimony.  Trains divisional staff on usage of systems and safety standards and regulatory compliance. Participates on the Corporate Product Safety Board, chairs the Divisional Product and Safety Committee. Partners with the Legal Department to implement requirements to meet global product compliance regulations. The employee also performs other duties as assigned.



  • Supervise product safety engineer and direct their activities related to product safety and compliance issues
  • Serve as the product expert in product liability litigation, providing accident investigation, depositions, evidence analysis and consultations throughout the litigation process
  • Investigate and report causes of accidents, injuries, or illnesses related to product usage and work with engineers to develop solutions to minimize or prevent reoccurrence
  • Work with Product Design Guidelines for products manufactured by Ditch Witch, Hammerhead/Subsite, and Siteworks divisions.
  • Review all operators, service and parts manuals for consistency and compliance as well as potential safety or risk exposure
  • Evaluate potential injury or damage that could occur from product misuse and provide feedback and guidance for engineers to address potential issues;
  • Partners with new product design teams to identify applicable standards and conduct risk assessments during development.
  • Keep abreast of industry, regulatory, & safety standards
  • Serve on various industry committees related to product safety and standards compliance
  • Serve as a liaison both internally and externally and be the contact person for customer questions dealing with Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) and other safety related issues
  • Serve as a chairperson of the Product Safety Committee and conduct regular meetings
  • Organize product safety meetings and product decal reviews
  • Tracks safety and regulatory compliance status on divisional products and ensure that teams meet their safety and regulatory compliance requirements prior to production and through product shipment release.
  • Compiles safety and regulatory compliance documentation.
    • Construction and storage of technical files
    • Updates safety and regulatory compliance documents as needed.
    • European Union risk assessment documents
    • Regulatory compliance excludes engine emission regulations.




  • Office most of the time, plant or outdoor environment a small amount of time. 
  • Occasional evening and weekend work as needed
  • Overnight travel as needed
  • Occasional filing and sorting of files requiring the ability to lift up to 10 pounds repetitiously



  • Have a B.S. degree in engineering-mechanical, civil, electrical, general, or related field with a minimum 5 years experience in design or manufacturing engineering
  • Be willing to maintain certifications and participate in continuing education as required.
  • Be willing to travel up to 20% of the time
  • Possess good speaking and writing skills
  • Have good computer skills in Windows, Word, Excel, & Access
  • Have the ability to successfully handle stressful situations and be able to work with individuals with various backgrounds (marketing, engineering, testing, training, legal, etc.)
  • OSHA, and Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) regulations
  • Possess working knowledge of standards: SAE; ISO; ANSI; CEN; and UL.
  • Have experience in accident investigation
