The Print Shop Equipment Operator operates a variety of printing, binding, and finishing equipment in the print shop.  He or she is responsible for preparing materials for each job, completing print jobs in a timely manner, and ensuring overall quality of the finished product.  The Print Shop Equipment Operator works with other print shop personnel to achieve product excellence and meet customer requirements. 



  • Operates a variety of printing, cutting, binding, and finishing equipment types.
  • Reviews job information for each print project to ensure all documentation is correct and the job meets customer requirements.
  • Collects finished product into appropriate packaging with correct labeling for delivery.
  • Understands the programming capabilities and can set up the all machines.
  • Cleans and proactively manages maintenance and repair of all print shop equipment to keep the machinery in good working order.
  • Performs setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting on all of the print shop equipment.
  • Assists in preparing the printing equipment for production in a timely manner.
  • Assists with determining needed supplies, repair parts, and replacement or additional equipment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.



  • Environmentally controlled print shop facility most of the time, enclosed warehouse part of the time.
  • Operation of printing, trimming, and binding equipment.
  • Some lifting required as well as other duties associated with warehouse management (operate fork lift, etc.)
  • Normal 9 hour work day, occasional workdays or up to 10 hours or more.
  • Rapidly changing workload, priorities, demands, schedules, and deadlines.



  • Zero to three (3) years of experience in a print shop equipment operations or related role.
  • Ability to set up, maintain, and troubleshoot all print shop equipment.
  • Experience with printing and bindery processes is preferred.
  • Superior customer service focus.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively in fulfilling customer needs.
  • Attention to detail and self-starter.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks while maintaining focus.
  • Positive attitude toward daily work, co-workers, and clients.
  • Ability to troubleshoot software/hardware problems is preferred.
