JOB SUMMARY:

This employee will work as a member of the Research, Development, & Engineering (RD&E) team and will design printed circuit boards (PCBs) for machine controls, electronic locating, tracking and guidance systems.  He or she will work closely with design team personnel and may be directed by an engineer, a designer, or other Subsite personnel. This position requires a high degree of creativity and latitude based on industry best practices and standards. This employee may direct electronic technicians in the design, modification, and development of PCBs or PCB assemblies. He or she will create PCB drawings using Altium 18 and perform other duties as assigned.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Interprets electrical design requirements to create original PCB layouts, detailed drawings, and other illustrations using Altium 18.
  • Works closely with design team members to determine physical locations of components and mounting methods, including the location of mounting holes, for PCBs.
  • Creates quote packages and coordinates with vendors and purchasing to procure PCBs based on project needs.
  • Creates PCB designs compliant with specifications, tolerances, industry best practices, and safety factors.
  • Performs calculations and analysis related to the design of PCBs; i.e, tracewidth based on current requirements.
  • Coordinates PCB design work with design personnel (engineers, designers, and technicians) to ensure the design is completed on time.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • In an office environment most of the time, in the plant or outdoor environment occassionally. The plant and outdoor conditions include variable heat and humidity, dirt, and noise; physical hazards such as soldering irons, sharp objects, and moving machinery; hazardous materials such as solder, flux, cleaning chemicals, and adhesives.
  • Frequent changing workloads and priorities.
  • Occasional travel (air and highway).

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Hold an Associates’s degree in an engineering discipline or demonstrate equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Have proficient CAD PCB layout skills or be willing to be trained. Altium version 18 experience preferred.
  • Ability to create symbols, cells, and library parts using CAD library tools.
  • Have a thorough knowledge of IPC standards regarding PCB design, fabrication, and assembly.
  • Proficient with common PCB vendor board constraints and cost driving factors.
  • CID or CID+ license or the equivalent experience and education preferred
  • Two (2) years of PCB design experience minimum with the most recent experience being within the past 6 months of applying for this position.
  • Experience with design for: Analog, Digital, RF, Manufacturability and EMC compliance.
  • Work well with others in a team setting.
  • Have a good work record of self-motivation, judgment, and productivity.
  • Be willing to work overtime or extra hours as needed.
